The first time I ever heard about and used Homeopathy was when I was suffering from post natal depression, (but I did not know that!) I had two children 18 months and 3 and I thought the way I felt was normal. The tiredness, the tears, the pain, the mood swings and I thought it was all due to sleep deprivation and having two busy young children, but, I compared myself to other mums and realised that it was not normal. I saw a Homeopath and my life changed completely. That was in 1987.
I went from carrying around burden of a black cloud and heaviness to feeling light and hopeful, in the space of a week. The true test was when I saw a dramatic improvement in my physical body, no more migraines every month, no more dragging down feeling, I could not believe it so I promised myself that I would study this wonderful form of healing and one day become a Homeopath.
I graduated with a Bachelor of Health Science from the Australian College of Natural Medicine in 2005, in Brisbane. Shortly after that my family moved to Christchurch, New Zealand. I ran a successful practice along with three other homeopaths for 4 years and moved to Auckland (my hometown) in April 2013.
I am passionate about Homeopathy and I am always amazed at the incredible results I see when using it. What impresses me most about this science of medicine is that “it treats the person, not the disease.” So for example there may be 5 people all with the same diagnosed illness, but, depending on the life story of the person, the time they have had their dis-ease, their family history, their living environment, their food likes and dislikes, whether they are hot bodied or cold, they will all need a different homeopathic remedy to initiate their balance back to good health, because, Homeopathy looks at the unique symptoms of that person, despite their condition or diagnosis. Just the same as when I had post natal depression, it was my history from my pregnancy, birth and living environment, my mental and emotional state as a result of moving country and not having any family support, that set up the changes within me, that led to my post natal state. But not every woman with post natal depression will need the remedy I had. That is why it is important to see a qualified and registered Homeopath for your own unique prescription, rather than self-diagnose and take something from over the counter that may not be individualised enough or of the right potency.
I moved to Auckland in 2013 because my daughter was having her first child and I wanted to be part of our grandchildren's lives, however, after 6.5 years I felt a calling back her to Christchurch. I experienced all the Christchurch earthquakes and I have a very first hand knowledge of the trauma it caused everyone who lived through them and the effects that post traumatic stress can have on a person's wellbeing. I am thankful for the tools I have with Homeopathy which helped me and my loved ones recover from the changes the earthquakes made to our lives.
I have a clinic in Rangiora, North Canterbury (about 25 minutes from Christchurch airport). I also make home visits for people who are unable to attend clinic times or for new mums and babies, when it is all too hard to get out the door. I treat acute and chronic health conditions. My passion is Homeopathy and to help people get back the balance they lost - when it all changed for them!
I also use Bach Flower Essences and Tissue salts, along with supplements where needed.
